Tamils Mourn Their Dead


UK, London – 23.05.09. Thousands of British Tamils gathered in parliament square, London to mourn their dead, killed in the war in Sri Lanka. People young and old laid flowers and lit candles in memory of friends and relatives. MP Tony Ben flew the Tamil flag in solidarity. Earlier in the day police had attempted to confiscate them from protesters, as the flags bare the emblem of the Tamil Tigers who are a proscribed terrorist organization in the UK.

Tamils Blockade Parliament Sq


UK, London – 11.05.09. Tamils blockade Parliament Square in protest over the ongoing war in Sri Lanka. Police removed demonstrators from the road and made several arrests.

Tamils block the Strand


UK, London – 27.04.09. Tamils protesters block the Strand outside of India House, the Indian High Commission. Protesters broke out of the pen into the road and stopped traffic for around 20mins before being forced off the road by police. Some of India Houses windows were smashed.

UK, London – 20.04.09. Tamil demonstrators occupied Parliament Square in protest against the Sri Lankan ongoing military campaign in Tamil areas.

Tamil Anti War March


UK, London – 11.04.09. Under the banner Stop the genocide of Tamils, over 150,000 people marched through central London. They called on the UK government to apply diplomatic pressure on Sri Lanka to cease its military campaign against the Tamil Tigers. There are reports that large numbers of Tamil civilians are being killed or injured in the fighting.
