Climate Protester Clash With Police Outside Bella Centre
Copenhagen, Denmark – 16.12.09. Thousands of protesters made a concerted attempt to enter the Bella Centre to hold a people’s climate summit. But they were stopped by police manning barricades and scuffles soon broke out. Police baton charged the crowd and fired teargas in an attempt to brake up the protest. At least 200 demonstrators were arrested.

Police Raid Christiania
Denmark, Copenhagen – 14.12.09. Police stormed Christiania. making multiple arrests. Around 200 people were placed under administrative detention and bused off to detention centers. Earlier that evening Naomi Klein addressed a “Climate Justice Action” party inside the neighborhood. However later in the evening, in unclear circumstances, the police surrounded the area, to which people responded by constructing barricades in the road outside the entrance of Christiania. A number of people threw bottles at police who answered with tear gas and water canon. Soon after large numbers of police entered Christiania.

Denmark, Copenhagen – 14.12.09. Activists target the danish MOD to highlight the fate of climate refugees. Around two thousand climate activists marched thought central Copenhagen escorted by lines of riot police. In Slotplads square the demonstrators untethering a large orange balloon advertising the COP15 process. The Police used dogs to control the crowd and to limit press access.

The Emissions Trading Association
Denmark, Copenhagen – 14.12.09. Activists staged a protest against the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), who were hosting their annual general meeting in Copenhagen city center. Emissions trading is a pseudo-enviromentl project that allows carbon to be bought and sold on the open market.

200 Arrested in Crackdown on Climate Protest
Denmark, Copenhagen 13.12.09. — Danish police outnumbered protesters on Sunday, arresting more than 200 people on a second day of demonstrations. The arrestees were held on the road in extremely cold weather, cuffed and forced into seated positions in lines, they were then loaded onto waiting coaches.
