Italy, L’Aquila – 10.07.09. Anti-G8 protesters marched in the earthquake hit town of L’Aquila on the third day of the meeting of eight. The demonstration was organized by trade unions and syndicalist groups, around 5000 people attended.

G8 Protest at Immigrant Expulsion Center

Anti-G8 demonstrators gathered in protest in front of the CIE,the identification and expulsion center in the Rome suburb of Ponte Galeria. They were highlighting the conditions that illegal immigrants face inside the prison and in Italy. Italy, Rome – 09/07/09.

Rome Students Occupy Derelict for Housing

Students from Sapienza University began the occupation of a residential house in Pigneto, Rome, as part of the direct actions being taken against the G8. More than 80 students occupied the space and have requested that the University authorities and local municipality listen to their case and allow them to live in the building which has been empty for over 10 years. Rome G8 Blockades

Italy, Rome – 07.07.09. At around 12 noon 200 people exited Romatre squatted university campus to blockade roads in the surrounding area. People used rubbish bins and tree cuttings to block streets, until large numbers of riot police forced them to disperse. Undercover police snatch squads were in operation and made over 30 arrests.
